Of Course I Love You...! Till I Find Someone Better

" Of Course I Love You
Till I Find Someone Better.

Everyone heard the first line
but felt the second line."

College, Attendance, Results, Relationships Friendships, Hook-ups, Break-ups, Placements, Gossips.... and a never ending list of curiosity and drama. Yes, I know you can relate to it. This is something which most of the collage going students or those who were a part of it once can easily relate. The author (Durjoy Datta) has given a glimpse of all these, beautifully in his work Of Course I Love You Till I Find Someone Better. The plot is set  around DCE college somewhere in Delhi.

The story starts in quite a seductive manner thus, gives you the motivation to read further. It revolves around Debashish(Deb), who had a history of being in relationships and then finding a way out for a breakup. Charming personality and witty nature are some of the attributes, due to which he can attract any girl.

You may find the initial part a bit boring as the story seems here and there but not till another important character (Avantika) is introduced in the plot. Deb started loving loving Avantika even though he was in a relationship, ends up being in relation with Avantika in some dramatic manner. According to Deb, he was in true love this time. An earthquake of magnitude 8.6 on Richter scale can not shake their bond, such was the intensity of their love. Deb's life became great. He wasn't placed but somehow managed a job in government sector on his father's recommendation.

Things were going well but suddenly  Avantika left giving her own reason as she was a follower of some guru, thus leaving Deb in complete despair. Deb was shocked and depressed. He was getting his own taste which used to do with others. Although he made some friends in office but still he was missing her badly. He was a improved person now and helped his office friend Amit to propose and marry the love of his life, Astha.

One day something surprising happened. Umm... Did Avantika came back? well, i would leave you with this suspense. It was a happy ending. Just a hint for you( blink of an eye)

I would end up saying that this book may attract you but if you are a kind of passionate reader then you may get disappointed.

Rich Dad Poor Dad....... Is it worth the hype?

Rich Dad Poor Dad  emphasizes the importance of financial knowledge in one's life. Most of the people work hard and focus on earning more and more money but they have no idea regarding investments and their expenditure. That's where the problem arises. The author has highlighted it in his own style, saying--
"  A person can be highly educated, professionally successful and financially illiterate. "

This book is about the author Robert Kiyosaki and his two dads-- His best friend's father (Rich dad) and his real father (Poor dad), the way  his two dads shaped his thoughts regarding money and investment. Most of his financial knowledge was taught to him by his rich dad. Poor dad tells him "I can't afford it" while the rich dad teaches him "How i can afford it" , thus reflecting their mindsets as those of rich and poor.

People specially middle class section should know the differences between assets and liabilities. Most of the middle class section buy liabilities thinking it to be an asset and thus gets trapped in the rat race. This has been beautifully explained in such a simplified way giving facts and examples that even a layman can easily relate to it.

Robert Kiyosaki sees one thing common in all of us including himself. We all have tremendous potential, yet the one thing that holds all of us back is some degree of self-doubt. Often in the real world, its not the smart who gets ahead but the bold.

Author's observatory skills are something that is worth notable. His appealing one-liners which he writes every now and then, just pumps you up. It created a deep impact on me when he said -to understand a person,  observe them closely when they play any kind of game. As,
"Games reflect behavior. They are instant feedback systems."

However, i would also like to mention that several statements were repeated thus making it monotonous at times. Most of the statements have been mentioned in the previous chapters already.
You will be excited a lot during the initial chapters but that excitement gets faded, as the book proceeds further through the chapters. Most of the greatest advises were in the last chapters of the book. So all I can say is , the author has saved his best for the last.

I  think that I have covered most of the points . This book is full of gyans (Indian way of saying knowledge). It will open new dimensions within you. Thus, it will make you more aware dealing with financial problems. I would say that this is a kind of book which you should, must read at least once.

Some eye catching one liners from the book are--

  • "There is gold everywhere. Most of the people are not trained to see it."
  • "To be truly rich, we need to be able to give as well as to receive."
  • "People lives are forever controlled by two emotions: fear and greed."
These were some of the impactful lines. I would be writing more of them in the next blog which you can use as a quotation. I hope you are loving my work and i would love to hear your suggestions regarding the next book which i should review.

A Walk To Remember..........really?

"First you will smile, and then you will cry--
Don't say you haven't been warned".

With this authenticity,  "A Walk To Remember" marked its beginning as the author specified about this romantic genre in his own style. It is a cute love story with a bittersweet ending. There are very few novels which are written from the male's perspective and it is one of those.

The story revolves  around Landon Charter describing about his most beautiful experience when he was 17 years old. He fell in love with the most unexpected girl he would have ever imagined. Jamie Sullivan , a very spiritual, soft and kind hearted girl .She was a complete contrast to what Landon Charter was. Landon Charter used to tease Jamie Sullivan's father but still he fell in love with her.

So, when i said unexpected, then such was its extent and i think now you could feel it. The author has beautifully described every plot. That's the reason it becomes very easy to understand each and every scene. Well, i am still searching for some  of the points to criticize about .

If you are the one who loves romantic genre, then you will love this one but remember to keep your emotions under check, otherwise you may experience some tears in your eyes which the author has already mentioned.

There were few one-liners and some short paragraph which caught my attention.

  •  "The problem isn't  finding out where you are gonna go-its figuring out what you are gonna do once you get there ".
  • "Life, I've learned , is never fair. If people teach anything in school, that should be it."
  • "Love is always patient and kind. It is never jealous. Love is never boastful or conceited. It is never rude or selfish. It does not take offence and is resentful. Love takes no pleasure in other people's sin, but delight in truth. It is always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope, and to endure whatever  comes."

So , this was all about, A Walk To Remember. I hope it helps. Please give your feedbacks in the comment section. Also let me know which next bestseller you want me to review.

Flitered Review....The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck

The subtle art of not giving a fuck points out some of the censored truths of our life in the most ruthless way.

Obviously, the author doesn't give a fuck whether you liked it or not as facts aren't based on someone's likes or dislikes. This is the beauty of this book( you can call it a self-help guide).
Well, I will not recommend it for the gentleman kind of person who doesn't like abusive languages although its quite entertaining( blink of an eye).
My friend, this book pierces your soul with some bitter truth and thus makes you more aware of yourself, practically. It doesn't give you a fake console and at the same time guides you to deal with your shits. I really felt connected with last two chapters specially the way author illustrated about his adventure and loved the way in which importance of choosing a priority in life is explained.
Although there are certain units, where author doesn't get straight to the point and just keeps on revolving around the same topic.
In short, if you are the kind of person who easily gets confused, being unable to handle your emotions and finds it difficult to choose your priority. I think, you should read it once.

Here are some of the one-liners and short paragraphs which grabbed my attention.

  •  "The point isn't to get away from the shit.    The point is to find the shit you enjoy dealing with."
  •  "    The desire for more positive experience is itself a negative experience.            Paradoxically, the acceptance of one's negative experience is itself a positive experience".
  •  " Certainty is the enemy of growth . Uncertainty is the root of all progress and all growth. As the old adage goes, the man who believes he knows everything learns nothing".
  • " Absolute freedom, by itself, means nothing".
  • " Avoiding rejections gives us short-term pleasure by making us rudderless and directionless in the long term".
  • " No one trusts a yes man. The pain in our relationship is necessary to cement our trust in each other and produce greater intimacy".
  • " Commitment gives you freedom because you are no longer distracted by the unimportant and frivolous. It hones your attention and focus, directing them toward what is most effective at making you healthy and happy".

So, this was all about the book. I hope , you will find it helpful and would save your precious time.
